Charts & Images cannot be enlarged enough to read. They may as well not even be there. Would also be nice to have a menu with a table of contents permitting us to click to the section we want to read.

Shame......because there are some jewels in this book but he lost me when he said Satan will raise Judas from the dead in order to step into the role of end times Antichrist. Yep....in order to reconcile his endtimes view he has endowed Satan with the power to raise the dead which therefore alludes to him also having the keys to hades.....which we know he doesn't. He completely disregards many verses and Christianity 101 that GOD is the only One who can raise people from the dead.

The methods and conclusions of Prof. Frederick Neumann's works (publ. in the decades 1970-1990) were rebutted by specialists in Early Music and other publications. This widely-read book makes fascinating and thought-provoking remarks. However, as detailed in a recent publication, the main thesis of Prof. Neumann on Ornamentation (that there were frequent pre-beat trills and mordents in Baroque music) is thoroughly unfounded. And is not a personal opinion: for many years this conclusion has being agreed upon by all the present-day scholarly sources on Baroque ornamentation I have been able to find.

A detailed discussion of Baroque sources of ornamentation

Books concerning performance practice are by their very nature controversial, and we can't ask Bach, Handel, or Telemann what they actually meant when they used a short-hand symbol or expected a performer to improvise a decoration. Or can we? Professor Neumann has compiled a volume based on writings in the Baroque era that attempts (successfully in my opinion) to provide some clues to the sketchy musical notations of busy and prolific composers in the Baroque era. His ideas are indeed controversial, but I think that they are well-reasoned and often brilliant. His knowledge of sources in the Baroque is magnificent, and his arguments are keenly-reasoned. This is a book of somewhat limited readership. Performers and scholars who play or edit Baroque music will find this to be a useful reference with a strong idex, a good bibliography, and a helpful guide to solving questions of decoration. Those who don't have an active involvement with Baroque music will find the book cryptic.

reference book looks excellent

When in graduate school, I had to do research on the performance practices of Baroque music. In the school library, they had this book in their reference book collection. It is probably the best and well researched book of its type. I was using this book so much I found myself in the library for many hours at a time. Traveling to and from home and walking to and from the parking lot to the library, I was spending quite a bit of time doing research. To conserve my time, I decided to go online and purchase my own copy of this book. I read the reviews of the seller and shows to buy this book from this seller from all of that were available. I was quite surprised when I received a call from the seller before he shipped the book. He wanted to make sure I had read the price correctly and we discussed quality of the book since it was used. Having dealt with book dealers over the years, I felt very comfortable in receiving the book I had ordered from this seller. He was very thorough and honest about the high quality of the book I was getting. When I received the book, I could tell that the book was used and that the book had been well cared for in the previous owners' library. I was elated when I received this book. It looks almost new to me. The seller has also ship this book with a signature confirmation of delivery. This was much appreciated too. Having my own copy of this book has saved me many lost hours in trips to use the copy in the school's library. The book now happily resides in my reference library here at home and is my personal reference volume that I refer to when I am preparing a piece of broke music for performance. Any time I am in need of a used book, I will look for this seller online. I have complete confidence in this seller and I am very happy that we were connected through Amazon.

a wonderful insight, horrible binding.

i think this book goes some ways into showing people that not only was rozz a very talented musician, but his best work was done with audial and visual arts. if you do buy this book be forewarned that it is obviously not just a few of these books that fall apart. it seems to be all of them, so if you don't want to keep re-ordering this book, then plan to spend a few dollars on rebinding it. the origonal binding seems to be some cheap foam-like glue. myself and my wife are having ours hardbound for around $60. very good investment though. if you are interested in surrealist art or the music and artistic endeavors of mr. williams this book will not in any way dissappoint.

This book is an excellent source for anyone who wants to remember Rozz Williams, to learn more about this pioneering artist, or to understand the origins of Christian Death. The book has sections on each of Rozz's musical projects and includes pictures, lyrics, and brief background information for each era, as well as poems, mixed-media collages, and a pretty good discography that includes many imports and singles.

First I should mention... the book did fall apart upon first viewing and now everytime I look at it I have to be extremely careful and alert at how the book is being handled. However, when one gets past this sorry state of affairs regarding the fragility of the book, one can not help but be impressed by its content: photo's, artwork, gig flyers, poetry, lyrics, commentary, tour dates, release dates. Great formating but look at the price

Yet ANOTHER publisher that SHOULD be ashamed of themselves. This time we have an amazingly good format of a book. It's sweet. Check out the preview. Italics, bold... looks great. BUT look at the price. $86??? For an EBOOK? I'd pay that for a physical book for resale value... but NOT an ebook. who would? Consider that the physical hardback is selling for less: $81.

What is wrong with this publisher? Protest.

Thank God Amazon allowed a refund on my mistaken purchase of the product.

Excellent writing based on carefully done research. The stories of ex-gang members are captivating and the insightful and nuanced analysis is engaging. Brenneman avoids simplistic conclusions; the book provided me new insights and leaves me pondering new questions.

This is a Fantastic Book

Truth in advertising: I was Bob's dissertation advisor. But, trust me, I don't say that all my grad students' dissertations are fantastic. This one, however, is. This book is very well written, sometimes beautifully and movingly so. The analysis is incredibly smart. The topic is of massive importance and interest. The insights here into the role of emotions, bodies, gender, and much more in religion and gang violence make real contributions to our knowledge. This book is, in my view, a model of a great sociological study. If only more sociologists did work like this. I highly recommend this book as assigned reading in any undergraduate Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, or Sociology of Religion college course course.

I would like to mention I do not totally agree with some ...

As a Salvadoran I have to say this is an important book about the transnational gangs, one of the key is the author did the research at the countries that belongs to the call "northern triangle", this is an important approach. I would like to mention I do not totally agree with some facts, in some chapters the author use the word "mara", "marero" instead of "pandillero", gangster in English, and this is truly a mistake, at El Salvador's streets they are not "mareros" anymore, because "pandillero" refers to the evolution of the gangs, at early 90's we called them mareros because they were focused to protect their barrios, in some cases they were just a bunch of teenagers, now they are evolved. About the Author
Laura E. Berk is a distinguished professor of psychology at Illinois State University, where she has taught child and human development to both undergraduate and graduate students for more than three decades. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, and her master's and doctoral degrees in child development and educational psychology from the University of Chicago. She has been a visiting scholar at Cornell University, UCLA, Stanford University, and the University of South Australia. Berk has published widely on the effects of school environments on children's development, the development of private speech, and most recently, the role of makebelieve play in development. Her research has been funded by the U.S. Office of Education and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. It has appeared in many prominent journals, including "Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Merrill-Palmer Quarterly, Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, Development and Psychopathology, "and "Early Childhood Research Quarterly. "Her empirical studies have attracted the attention of the general public, leading to contributions to "Psychology Today "and "Scientific American." Berk has served as research editor for "Young Children "and consulting editor for "Early Childhood Research Quarterly "and the "Journal of Cognitive Education and Psychology. "She is a frequent contributor to edited volumes on early childhood development, having recently authored chapters on the importance of parenting, on make-believe play and self-regulation, and on the kindergarten child. Chinese Breeze is a fun and engaging series of intermediate level Chinese reading books for language students. The grammar and vocabulary is simple enough that intermediate readers can smoothly follow and enjoy the stories. The stories themselves are diverse -- with modern romance and intrigue, to historical tales, to touching family stories. I think this a good series, and great for students to practice reading skills in abundance. I would recommend the entire Chinese Breeze series to any student of Chinese.
