About the Author

Barbara Suppé hat ihre Ausbildung zur Physiotherapeutin 1986 beendet und arbeitet seitdem schwerpunktmäßig im Bereich Bewegungssystem. Anfang der 90er Jahre hat sie gemeinsam mit Matthias Bongartz die Ausbildung zur Instruktorin FBL bei Susanne Klein-Vogelbach in Basel absolviert und gibt seitdem regelmäßig Fortbildungskurse in FBL Functional Kinetics. Mehrere Jahre war sie für die Instruktorenausbildung zuständig und hat sich einen Namen als Autorin und Herausgeberin der FBL-Bücher gemacht. Ihr Diplom-Studium Physiotherapie hat sie mit einer Arbeit zum Thema „Einfluss der Haltung auf die Stimme“ abgeschlossen. Seit 1995 leitet sie die Physiotherapieschule am Universitätsklinikum Heidelberg.

 Matthias Bongartz ist seit 1986 Physiotherapeut und hat mehrere Jahre Berufserfahrung im Bereich Bewegungssystem. Er hat das Therapeutische Klettern auf der Grundlage der FBL Functional Kinetics entwickelt und bietet im In- und Ausland auch zu diesen Themen Fortbildungen an. Er arbeitet seit 1992 als Schulleiter bzw. Lehrer an verschiedenen Schulen im Rhein-Neckar-Kreis und ist seit 2009 Diplom-Physiotherapeut (FH). In dieser Funktion hat er den Bachelor-Studiengang Physiotherapie an der BA Nordhessen konzipiert und etabliert. Heute ist er neben seiner Tätigkeit als Physiotherapielehrer Passagement Consultant und arbeitet als Coach und Unternehmensentwickler im Bereich Gesundheitsförderung.

About the Author
Ken Hom began his culinary career in his uncle's Chicago restaurant at the age of 11, before eventually moving on to teach at California's Culinary Academy. He now has 25 years of experience as a BBC television chef and has written more then 30 cookbooks, including Foolproof Chinese Cooking, Foolproof Thai Cooking, and Ken Hom's Quick Wok.

JENS BUUS, PhD, is a fellow of the IEEE whose research has made numerous contributions to the understanding of the properties of semiconductor lasers and optical waveguides. He holds five patents and has written two earlier books. A popular speaker, Dr. Buus has presented tutorials and short courses at major conferences, including: ECOC, OFC, EFOC, and the IEEE International Semiconductor Laser Conference.

MARKUS-CHRISTIAN AMANN, PhD, is Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Walter Schottky Institute of the Technical University of Munich, Germany. In addition to over 200 publications, conference papers and book chapters, he is a frequent tutorial speaker and short-course presenter on semiconductor lasers, and has served on numerous conference committees such as CLEO, IEEE Semiconductor Laser Conference, IEEE LEOS annual meeting, ECIO and APOC. His present research areas are wavelength-tunable laser diodes, long-wavelength surface-emitting lasers, and microwave semiconductors.

DANIEL J. BLUMENTHAL, PhD, is Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of California at Santa Barbara. In addition to being a Fellow of the IEEE/LEOS and member of the OSA, Professor Blumenthal is also an associate editor for IEEE Photonics Technology Letters and has served as associate and guest editor for several other IEEE publications. Along with publishing several hundred journal articles, conference presentations, magazine articles, and book chapters, he has served as chairman or on the organizing committees of numerous conferences, including OFC, ECOC, OSA Topical Meeting on Photonics in Switching and CLEO. Professor Blumenthal's current research areas include optical wavelength conversion and regeneration, optical packet switching and photonic integration.

It is easy to take issue with an effort to provide a neutral perspective on the conflict. Partisans will inevitably view such projects as biased. I thought that Caplan made an admirable effort to present a clear, concise and impartial look at the historical controversies relating to the conflict.

Caplan is biased. Does not present a fair approach to history

I was excited to read this book, at first. However, the more I read the more I realized that Caplan neglected to include all information about the Israeli side of things. I think he may have did this so that his book seems balanced but not telling the entire story is unfair. I do not recommend this book for someone who is looking to a get a fair and balanced approach to the history the Middle East conflict. Instead I would recommend one of two reads: Mitchell Bard's "Idiot's Guide to the Middle East Conflict" or Michael Rydelniks "Understanding the Arab-Israeli Conflict: What the Headlines Haven't Told You".
