Not a werewolf, but a wendigo tale

The horror/ sci-fi genre has gotten stuck on certain supernatural elements, such as vampires and werewolves. This book is a refreshing departure from the same old stuff. I had never read a book about a wendigo, a legendary Native American shape-shifting creature. Not only was the book a page turner, it was scary! I wish there were a lot more books like this.

I love this book! The horror/sci-fi genre has gotten stuck on certain elements of the supernatural, such as vampires and werewolves. This book is a creative departure from the same old stuff. I have never read a book about a wendigo, a legendary Native American shape-shifting creature. Not only is it a page turner, it's scary. I wish there were a lot more books like this.

My search is finally over!

I read this book about 8 years ago. It was the only book that has ever given me nightmares (and I mean bad ones). I borrowed it to someone and forgot who and it was never returned. I coundn't for the life of me remember the name of it only the picture on the front cover. I have spent 8 years searching and finally found it again. If you like truely scary stuff...don't let this one pass you by. You will remember it for a long time!

Needs more grouse hunting techniques

About the only thing I found useful was the ruffed grouse population density map. You might be able to find that online for free. This book is mostly listings of hotels, veterinarians and other services that you can find perfectly well with Googlemaps. Not much in the way of hunting technique or types of cover to look for which I needed. I am a first time Minnesota ruffed grouse hunter, and I found the book to be insufficient.

After buying a new game at a pawn shop Derrick ran home to play it though as soon as he turned it on his life came to an abrupt end. Transported into another world Derrick found himself in a world not unlike an rpg. Felling no loss at the world he left behind he started to move in his new world as his guides helped him.

Decent work in progress, Horribly overpriced.

I have a simple policy when deciding whether to buy an e-book. 1. Am I pulled in within the first page? 2. Is it priced close to $.01-$.02 per page?

I am happy to pay 1.99, or even 2.99 for an e-book, if I am getting a decent amount for my money. 2.99 for 180 pages is the highest ratio I've ever gone, and that was because the book sample was just too good to put down. 2.99 for 90 pages? No. That's ridiculous for even the best e-book, and the sample was not that good. Worst, the author attempted to justify this in the foreword, claiming these 90 pages took 80 hours to write, and that it was the only way for them to be reimbursed a decent amount. I felt dirty just reading those words. I will not be buying any of this authors works until they learn to price them accordingly.

To finish. The book looks like a decent work in progress. It is insanely overpriced. The author is horribly conceited, and not interested in the people who might be reading their works. Do not support this author unless you enjoy being taken advantage of.

Promising LitRPG serial

Nice and welcomed addition to the genre. I found the idea of an update every 15 days quite attractive as well. It certainly works well for Star Force: Inception (SF1) . The universe seems well built, and can only get richer the more books we see. The set up is a mix of the standards transport-into-a-new-world and reincarnation, while the setting is a universe/world that works on game mechanics, which I always enjoy. In this nascent genre, English speaking writers are still playing catch up, but we are slowly reaching a critical mass, and I can see more and more books coming out soon. This was a good beginning, although not as polished as the Russian litRPG out there, it compares well with many of the Japanese, Chinese and Korean I've read. It's still only a first book, so there's a lot to be written before we can make a call, but I'll got out on a limb an say this is probably the beginning of a great series.

Good book marred by excessive typos

I really enjoyed the stories, and the writing wasn't bad, except for the massively excessive number of typos. If you are going to charge this much for a book this short, and go so far as to include a justification for the price ( which I can understand if Amazon has a pricing plan that's tiered the way that's described), then either spend a bit more time and proofread what you write, find an editor, or find yourself a small group of "first readers" that can help you weed out most of those. The work REALLY suffers because of them.

Stop, hey what's that sound

There's something happinin here
What it is ain't exactly clear (Buffalo Springfield)

So this is "The" book behind the film. Now let's forget about the film.

I like stories about big bugs, dangerous plants, and was looking forward to voracious sharks. What I got was a love story and a dead cat. I do not like stories where the bad guys have to pick on cats and dogs to show how bad they are. Not even sharks look for cat chow or doggie snacks.

We start out with a great premise of a displaced shark that just needs a kinibble on the way to where ever he is going. There is a consciences sheriff that does not want people feeding the wildlife (especially with their bodies). A standard money grubbing business man that wants the beaches left open.

A few bites now and then "and the search is on" makes for a great read. Then we forget about the shark and the havoc to concentrate on a woman with bodily needs (in very graphic pros.) Back to the shark and again forget about the shark again as the family pet gets dispatched (in very graphic pros.) Then back to the shark and captain Ahab.

Nice ending sort of makes up for the straying off target middle.

Not really as described

This book arrived quickly, it was in good condition. But it is NOT printed with "First Edition" as described. It's also NOT the version in the picture with the original "shark" image that is shown in the photo (probably the sleeve, but missing anyway). From what I can see, it's either a book club version or perhaps a pirated copy - there are plenty of those around. But the price was OK, so I'll keep it. The owner of the business (called "sometimes") says that they have a perfect 5-star rating, and that they strive to be honest. I like that attitude and I was ready to give it 5 stars when it arrived so soon, but it just wasn't as described, yet still worth the fair price.
